Blog 3 - Very Nice, Very Nice
Cleake woke up early to get coffee at the new shop that just opened up. It claimed to be 24 hours so he figured he would go in and out quickly. This was not the case. As he reached the shop he noticed a group of people standing around in the fog. At this point, he felt too close to coffee to head back and go to work, so he proceeded. Very grumpily, he sat around and batted everybody with social intentions away. No one appealed to the grumpy Cleake. He had been waiting at least thirty minutes where he had only allowed twenty minutes for coffee and the rest of his morning routine. Cleake was going to be extremely late, and work without coffee was a definite no. Cleake could either call in sick, which would make his boss mad because he liked time to prepare for the absence, or he could call in and explain the situation. If he explained himself, the boss would simply make him go to work without coffee, again, no. Cleake decided it was time to interact and ask questions. but no one was willing to give up information. No matter who he asked they just grunted and sat there with their arms crossed. Now an hour had passed, and Cleake knew nothing more than when he arrived. It was 8:40, and Cleake was pissed. Nothing would cheer him up, even coffee wouldn't fix his attitude. Cleake was starting to think he'd just skip work entirely. He decided to wait until 9:00. This was easier said than done. 8:41. 8:42. 8:43, time just wouldn't move. 8:44. 8:45, a sound starts to play. It is Pink Floyd's Another Brick in the Wall. Someone had started a radio. Cleake just wished it had happened earlier. At the end of the song, the radio announced the time at 8:48 and the end of their morning mix. Cleake was finished. Without music or coffee, he would go home depressed. It was 8:49, and he was walking towards Castle Apartments. 8:50, Cleake is almost out of hearing range, when suddenly, the radio shouts out in the middle of a commercial that you can get a free waffle when you buy a coffee at.... Cleake couldn't hear it, but he could guess where. He rushed over to the shop and found that he needed to wait till 9:00 for the deal. He was fine with this. He would be extremely late to work, but at least he would have his coffee and some food. The day would be livable... depending on what his boss thought of his tardiness.

I turned to the guy standing next to me and asked: “Did you see what was in his shopping cart? He was here and gone so fast, I didn’t catch it.” The guy grunted and turned to face in a different direction.
