Blog 5 - It's The Most Dangerous Time Of The Year...
It was almost Christmas and Cleake was finishing his final day at work for the year on December 22. It was a rather busy time as many people want to surprise their loved ones with the animal they always wanted, but other than that it was just a normal winter day. Upon leaving the building, Cleake heard childrens laughing, singing, and walking down the street. He followed them out of curiosity as to what was going on. He saw their skates and somehow didn’t put two and two together that they were going to the lake to skate. He reached the lake and finally realized it. He wished he had brought his skates. He used to love skating, so without thinking Cleake started running onto the ice because he just couldn’t resist. He, surprisingly, easily held his balance despite it being quite difficult. Everything was fabulous for Cleake, gliding across the ice with pure happiness and joy, until he reached the soft spot where everyone had been skating. Although Cleake was light, he weighed enough to fall directly through the ice. Everyone around panicked and tried to help him out, but Cleake was flailing around, worried for his life. As his body temperature plummeted, so did his chances of survival. It was beginning to look dim as he had sunk low enough to where hands weren’t even reaching him anymore. Cleake faded away... Cleake woke up. He was on his back in the park and a crowd of people were around him. He was shivering in his wet clothes, but he had regained consciousness as he had began to warm up to a desirable temperature. He apologized to everybody, who were just happy he was alive, and went home. It was likely Cleake wouldn’t be seen much outside of the apartments until his work started back up.
