Blog 7 - The Past Is Always Present

Cleake woke up and pondered his day ahead of him. Immediately, he thought he might be able to sneak into work late, which would insure less time with the animals at Alfonso’s Pets. After a sequence of thoughts, Cleake had a question for himself. “Why is it that I hate animals so much?” Looking to his past, Cleake found an answer. Cleake was walking to a friend’s house at the age of three. On his way, a dog barked viciously at him from behind a fence. It startled and scared Cleake causing him to run home and cry to his mom. He showed up so late to his friend’s house that they hardly had anytime to play, and when he told his friend why he was so late, his friend laughed at him, feeling no sympathy for Cleake. He blamed the animal for the events that occurred on that day, never forgiving the dog or any of its race until he was at least eight years old. Maybe his memory of the ordeal lasted longer than he thought.
