Blog 10 - And One More Thing

Cleave woke up and realized that for the first time in a while he had nothing to do all day. No work. No family obligations. No plans. He lay in bed thinking about what he could possibly do for the next fourteen hours (11-1). He couldn't think of anything he truly desired or had the money, so he rose out of bed and found his map of the town. He closed his eyes and moved his finger along the page until he suddenly awoke with his finger on Walter's Lanes. He grinned. He found something that drew some interest in him. Cleake got ready for a day at the bowling alley and left on foot. Soon after departing Cleake felt a hole in his stomach and decided to stop by at Casa de Waffles to get some breakfast. Upon entering he felt an urge for pancakes, which of course the Casa de WAFFLES did not have. He settled for a waffle, sausage, and grits though and left for Sobchak Lane feeling somewhat pleased. Cleake entered Sobchak's Lanes and recognized the attendant at the front desk from when he came in to get a job soon after being fired at Forever 21. It seemed ironic to say he got fired at Forever 21 due to their recent fire. Anyways, Cleake approached the desk, causing the attendant to sigh and exclaim, "Look. There still aren't any job openings, so if you'd just leave now it'd really save both our time." Cleake was somewhat surprised since this was not his objective and replied, "Look I'm not here to steal your job. I just want a lane, so I can bowl in peace." The attendant immediately shut it and awkwardly served Cleake without saying another word. Cleake took his lane and instantly nderstood there would not be peace. There was a five year-old's birthday party at the two lanes to the right. Loud shouting and running forced Cleake out of concentration and resulted in poor bowling. 181, Cleake very often bowled a high 200. Cleake, unsatisfied by his results, decided to wait out the birthday party to bowl again. He sat around and thought about what it would be like to work here if he did get that job. Pros: Working with bowlers, not working with animals, bowling, atmosphere of a bowling alley, watching people bowl, etc. The list was nearly endless. Cons: Serving loud birthday partys... The only con was something he was dealing with already. Whatever, Cleake shrugged the thought aside and realized that during his daydream the party had subsided. He got up and played another round. This time bowling a 277. A prime number he thought, just like the 181. Cleake's scores meant something. He just couldn't put his finger on it. His higher score did mend his sorrow slightly as Cleake. However, Cleake still had nothing to do, and the walk home wore the medicine off. Reaching his apartment around 6, Cleake fell asleep depressed again.
